USC Midwest Alumni Club Kenneth Barton II Memorial Scholarship
Each year, the USC Midwest Alumni Club provides scholarships
to incoming Trojans. Scholarship interviews are conducted
in the Spring for eligible high school seniors who have met established University criteria,
and who have been accepted by the University for admission in the fall.
Volunteers from the USC Midwest Alumni Club conduct the interviews. The objectives
of the scholarship interview are: 1.To inform
students about USC. 2.To encourage incoming freshman to attend
USC. 3.To determine the student's leadership potential, ability
to succeed at USC and to participate in the various opportunities
offered to undergraduates. 4.To select the scholarship
recipients among the many applicants.
Interview criteria include community service, school activities, outside interests
and hobbies, as well as the ability of the student to communicate effectively, with
special consideration given to students who have experienced and have overcome adversities
or hardships. Scholarship award winners are selected based upon their potential contribution to the Trojan Family.
The total amount of funds available for scholarship awards is established by resolution of the USCMAC Board of Directors. Individual scholarship awards are one-time, non-renewable grants and usually range from $1000 to $5000 depending upon availability of matching funds. The number of students chosen to receive scholarships may vary depending upon club resources.
